We had an appreciation for the 1st book of Enoch which was discovered and recovered from Ethiopia. It is more authentic and brings the bible full circle, giving further details and clarity to the events of the bible in the old and the new. The 2nd book of Enoch picked up in Belgrade (Slovakia) had Gnostic influence. While the 3rd from Hebrew-Israel had a huge Cabala Cult influence.  I will encourage you to read 1st book of Enoch if you can. Thank God for Africa for preserving this record intact! Our Scripture today for our meditation is John 14. Eric Espinoza The Vine RC PSALM 44 God has been with us before, so why didn't He show up this time? 1. Remembering God's faithfulness in the past gives us hope for the future. 1. We need to teach this to new believers so they're prepared ahead of time for hardship 2. Suffering can make you feel like God is not present 1. Don't be timid, run to God! 2. Don't make the same mistake Job's friends made. 3. We experience suffering that doesn't always make sense. 1. Shadow of death - Hebrew combination of words to describe thick despair. 2. It's ok to have feelings of abandonment as long as we keep our faith. 3. It's ok to be frustrated. But don't try to hide it from God. He can handle it. 4. We pray boldly to a God characterized by his steadfast love. 1. Even when it doesn't seem like it. Trust it. How do we tie this to Christ? Romans 8 - we have so much to look forward to. Romans 5 - Romans 8:31-39 - quotes Psalm 44. Answers. Greek = super conquerors Romans 8:11 - what is your hope? John 11 - though you die, you will live. Death cannot hold you down. Romans 8:18 - sufferings of death not with comparing... It's not a cop out... We don't just say, "it'll get better eventually" - Don't get caught up in the "here and now. Romans 8:26 - we can't even pray right. Holy Spirit intercedes. Romans 8:31 - God even gave his son for us, what else would He hold back from us? Don't be timid with the Gospel! The Concretness of Love: Jesus Loves Our Bodies and Our Souls

Christ cares about the person as a whole. Although his focus is on people's souls he by no means seeks to ignore their bodily concerns. He cares very deeply for their bodily needs. He tells his disciples: "My heart is moved with pity for the crowd because they have been with me now for three days and have had nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry they will collapse along the way and some of them have come a great distance" (Mk 8:2-3). He then proceeds to feed the crowd (for the 2nd time). Jesus cares about their well-being in the fullest sense possible.

To be a follower of Christ means to love and care for people like he did. He didn't just care for their souls, but for their bodies as well. Many Christians when they "preach" forget about that. That they, more often then not, need to find a way to deal with the practical aspects of the lives of others. Love that does not seek to impress itself upon others in a way which those people can tangibly feel is not genuine. If you simply tell the hungry man that he should follow Christ, but refuse to help feed them then you are a hypocrite. You are not a true follower of Christ. Most of the time, whether you're talking to a hungry man, a mother who just lost her child, or a student who is stressing over grades, simply saying telling that person that God loves him or that he should believe in Jesus isn't enough. You need to find a tangible way to love that person and to touch that person's life  just like Jesus did. Or at least try to. Jesus didn't simply preach to people and then walk away. He showed his love for them by tending to their body AND soul and we should do the same.

Christian Disciple: The fine arts

Interviewer: Oh?

Christian Disciple: Yes, the finest of the fine arts.

Interviewer: What specifically do you specialize in?

Christian Disciple: Reproductions.

Interviewer: Reproductions of what?

Christian Disciple: I'm glad you asked. Reproductions of the life of the man Christ upon the canvases of every human being.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. How much fruit are you producing? Take today as a new day as Jesus makes all things new. Walk righteously with the Lord today as we all head back to work. Remember every thought, word and intention we have in our heart the Lord knows. Let's all produce as much fruit as possible and be TRUE disciples of our God!
