Owari was taking a stroll through the campus, her notebooks – with pages falling out, torn papers, and half-ripped off covers – held to her body. Some dumb science teacher of theirs had assigned a god damn nature diary. For Pete's sake, they were in high school – high school! and they were tasked with this for a project.
Muttering choice words under her breath and feeling like she was five years old again, she carefully stepped around the trees. Whoa, wait.
What was that brown thing on the ground there?
Kneeling down and brushing away the leaves that covered most of what she had spotted, she took a step back as a dirtied and young bird laid in the dirt. Its wing was underneath it, badly twisted. She was relieved to see it twitch, but still alarmed, she yelled to the nearest person who was walking by.
"Hey!" Waving them over, she pointed to the poor thing. "D' you know how t' take care of these? I should probably take it t' the school or somethin', but I don't know how to carry it without hurtin' it further."
