I've only read Tarkin and Catalyst, and I quite enjoyed them. Is the rest of his stuff that bad?
it’s not that his writing is bad, necessarily, it’s just unfailingly sexist, usually doesn’t have many women, objectifies them when they are there, and in lyra’s case, puts her into the position of intelligent woman who gives up everything (career, location, etc.) to support her genius husband and be his secretary, and i resent that his books are as well regarded as they are
Happy Birthday!
dsfdsafaf how did u knowwwwwwww?? <3 <3 thank u tho

Brendol explains the name: because he's first among stormtroopers (but also it's a bird, apparently)

Minor spoilers: They mention it's in reference to a bird
ah, that must have passed me by, i guess i’ve gotta pay more attention when i read lmao
(i do still want to know if there are space catholics the birds are named after, though)
9, 19, 22, 28?
9. favourite non-musical sound?
water running, cats purring, the mhmhmhmhm ewes make to newborn lambs (it’s cute)
19. do you enjoy any unusual food combinations that others find unappealing?answered!
22. any specific textures that bother you?
oatmeal. anything oatmeal-y. silky fabric. fleece blankets. matte paint. figs. creamy with bits in (here’s looking at you mac and cheese topped with breadcrumbs).
28. have you ever had your fortune told? (did it prove to be accurate?)i have not! i know a place though.
Best and worst episode of anything Star Trek? Doctor Who?
okay, maybe not best but take me out to the holosuite is good for a bad day; worst, threshold, absolutely. although the omega glory is. wow. towards the end i looked up the writer and shook my head in shame. it’s not bad it’s just. not good.
doctor who: best episode, heaven sent, so good, so good (also i’m a sucker for the empty child/doctor dances, love it so much). worst, i haven’t been able to make it through the twin dilemma and i’ve tried. i have tried.

That is some of the most bass ackwards logic I’ve ever seen in my life
i know, i love it. next thing you know they’ll be saying zelda would’ve been harder to animate
or it couldn’t be a girl because then you’d be able to look up her skirt
or maybe a woman protagonist is just too unrealistic
also it just goes to show how little they think of zelda; they imagined some kind of role reversal and then were like ‘but wait! that would make link irrelevant!’ and its like.. .. .. .. maybe if you saw zelda as a fully featured character instead of a plot token ?
