↑ Hmm…, so something strange happened when I installed my smime certificate on my phone today. I got this scary looking thing you see pictured up above?
Well, apparently I’m not the only one who finds this a bit odd. An understatement (obviously).
… the assumption that an uninformed user is to draw based on this is that having any form of third party “trusted credential” installed means that a 3rd party will probably be monitoring my traffic.
↑ While I find it highly unlikely that an email certificate is going to be snooping around on my network. There’s of course merit to such a warning. Especially when it concerns actions not taken by the user. Other than that: A certificate — issued to me by comodo, protected by a passphrase, after obtaining it securely — shouldn’t give off such scary looking warnings.
