The Difference Between Knowing & Believing
As Confucius said "True wisdom is knowing what you don't know", the difference between knowing and believing is a case of doing your own research. Knowing how to research is not a gift, it's a skill (TheTrivium), and one that has not been taught to us deliberately.
Researchers have to know the lingo ( the grammar ), they have to understand the processes and the working of what they're researching (the Logic), only then can they confidently 'know'- rather than having to believe. If you can 'know', and teach others to know (the rhetoric) then you have a job to do, as you are a rare individual indeed. Being stuck on level 2 myself, this article is a stab at documenting my attempt at teaching and rhetoric.
"Stop laughing at the back!"
Whilst becoming a researcher of the net, it was soon realised that literally anything could be self taught from scratch with the aid or podcasts, online books, video and tutorials etc. The only skill needed to become an 'Autodidact' is a little bit of logic and the ability to read. So once the washing machine is fixed, Bulgarian has been learnt and a perpetual water pump has been built, the more interesting fringe topics can be explored. When you couple research skills with the methods of the Trivium for discernment, and dive down the deepest rabbit holes, you will find out that just about everything we've been taught to 'believe', is a lie, and that in reality most, (including me) 'know' very little.
After years of researching all manner of crazy crap / holy crap 'stuff' - 3 areas of research were settled on that should be properly explored - the rest could wait. Those areas were Law, Health and Preparedness. The immediate dangers of 3D living today are not knowing your inalienable rights, not being health sufficient, and not being prepared for the future. These are fundamental gifts we should all be giving to the next generation as a per-requisite.
For example, understanding the ALL CAPS NAME scam that's being pulled on all of us, the difference between lawful and legal, and the Common law v. Statute law. None of us have mastered the art of free energy (yet), so it would be prudent to know what our ancestors knew in the way of fire lighting, shelter building, foraging, signs of nature and seasons. Realising that (Clean, healthy, natural) water, food and environment was paramount - and that it is pointless to have all this when others didn't. This simple knowledge has been eroded, but would have been basic survival knowledge just 120 years ago (pre tin-foil)
The first step is to forget what you 'believe', and concentrate on setting out to 'know' what you 'know',
as "belief is the enemy of knowledge." - Crrow777
Here's a simple test about 'Knowing' or 'Believing':
Suppose I wanted to 'know' how high a hot air balloon was using nothing more than a GPS, Mobile phone and a home made sextant, like this:
It is understood that:
A right angle triangle has a 90* angle at one of its corners and that all angles of all triangles add up to 180*.
If one of the other angles was 60* then the final angle would be: 180* - (90+60)= 30*
If In another 90* triangle, the second angle is 45* then the 3rd angle must be 45* in order to total 180*
M'kay so far ... A 90*+45*+45* Triangle has a special quality, that others don't, namely the two sides coming away from the 90* corner MUST be equal lengths
So if you know the distance between two places of observation then you know the distance to the object that you are both viewing.
So if the person under the balloon (or your mates in the balloon) know where they are relative to you, you are see the balloon at an angle of 45* then you can calculate the height of the balloon. This can be used with fixed objects as well, like the top of a tower or cliff.
Armed with this basic knowledge I then made the following rough observations replacing the hot air balloon with the Sun...yes! that thing they say is 93 million miles away.
I noticed that the Sun was at about 45* to me in the sky at 6pm one evening. So as I knew the Sun was going to be overhead somewhere else in the world at the same time (ie. 12 o'clock midday) I just had to find out where and calculate the distance. I went online and searched for a location on the latitude 6 hours behind the UK and as close to 51* North of the equator (my location). I settled on Winnipeg that was 49* North and 6 hours behind.
So, as you can see from these rough observations, the Sun would appear to be less than 4000 miles above the surface of the earth. Many (far more technically minded) people have conducted this experiment for themselves down the ages, and have calculated similar figures to here. Until you do it for yourself though, you are basing everything you believe on the here-say of others. Until you take your own Star Trails shot of the North Star (for example) you are taking any number of photo shopped fake photos at face value.
What we are offered as 'reality' today is only available for verification by multi-billion dollar budget Agencies like NASA. None of us are able to explore our 'final frontier', we're not even allowed to freely explore Antarctica!
Use your research skills and discernment to discover the many ways these Agencies have lied, deceived and faked our current reality, then throw out your believes and start again.
So, if the Sun was really 93 Million miles away then you couldn't get a 45* angle on it from the surface of the Earth. This would only be achievable if you yourself were 93 million miles away at a right angle to the Earth.
Even if my crude observations are grossly inaccurate, I can confidently say that the Sun is not 93 million miles away and no more than 10,000 miles away.
So now you 'KNOW' on a flat Earth model the Sun is not 93 million miles away, what you choose to 'believe' is up to you.
Using Plane Triganometry we can calculate, as so many before us have, the rough distance to the Moon & Sun above the Earth's surface. We can watch & make videos, including clouds appearing as though they are behind the Sun & Moon (because they are), and videos of weather balloons that show the properties of the Sun quite clearly, and how these properties do not corrolate to the Heliocentric Ball Earth model at all. So what gives?
If you would prefer to check out the 'heliocentric' explanations as to how YOU can measure the distance to our celestial bodies, then please feel free to try and work out the explanation offered up in this 'How To' article written by Cornell University entiltled "How do you measure the distance between Earth and the Sun? (Intermediate)".
Last found here: http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/about-us/41-our-solar-system/the-earth/orbit/87-how-do-you-measure-the-distance-between-earth-and-the-sun-intermediate
In this article they diligently inform you about how 'they' now use Radar etc to bounce off the first object in order to measure the distance to another object (the Sun). Considering this is a 'How To' I'm not sure how many of you have a spare 'radar' available to confirm this.
The entire explanation seems to rely on the first calculation to the first object, in order to calculate the distance to the second object (usually the Sun). Again & again they fail to show how to empirically measure the distance to ANY celestial body, using methods that you or I could use.
The article tells you that these off-Earth measurements were evidenced over 2000 years ago by Aristarchus (310-230 BC). The clear explanation offered by Cornell is quite self-evident - "He measured the angular separation of the Sun and the Moon when its phase was first or third quarter to derive the distance between Earth and Sun in terms of the distance between the Earth and the Moon" -- OBVIOUSLY !!
Then we are told:
Eratosthenes (276-194 BC) also measured the distance between Earth and Sun as 804,000,000 stadia."
But we are not told how?
Obviously the 'how' is not that important in this particular 'HOW To'
Finally we are told:
"The first scientific measurement of the Earth-Sun distance was made by Cassini in 1672 by parallax measurements of Mars (he observed Mars from two places simultaneously)."
Well I have some very interesting data about 'Parallax' (or lack thereof) but we'll have to leave it there for now
To this date, I have not seen an experiment that each & everyone of us can do that would validate spinning ball Earth Theory. It has currently Exploded onto the internet over the last 6 months (Now is July 2015), and yet, no real conclusive evidence has been put forward to refute the Flat Earth - one has to wonder
But for now - #DYOR - Do Your Own Research...
