Truth (or the Pros and Cons Thereof)

Now an AU!

Truth didn't make any noise when he appeared, leaning against the star railing and crossing his legs.

The other three sides bickered endlessly until Truth spoke.

"Roman is insecure."

All eyes turned to him, and Roman seemed half-heartedly indignant.

"Wha-no I'm not!" he sputtered. "I'm the prince! I don't even know the meaning of the word!"

"Thomas cares more about himself than his friends."

This time Patton protested.

"That's a lie! Thomas loves his friends! He's not selfish!"

Truth turned orange eyes to stare at Patton, unrelenting.

"The Truth is most difficult to hear for the people who most deny it."

Virgil snarled. "That's just a fancy way of saying we're wrong."

"You are wrong. All of you. You refuse to listen to Logic, so now," Truth spread his gloved hands out. "I am Truth, at your service." He punctuated his statement with a mocking bow and a vicious smirk.

"Well, then if you're Truth," Patton trembled. "Why did you say all that...not true stuff!"

"It is true, you're simply blind. You wear glasses but they appear to be quite rose-colored from this distance. And they seem to tint even more when you look at Thomas." Truth spun the cane in his hands a few times, a smile drawing onto his face again. "It's all rather unfortunate, but with time, I believe you all will see the truth about the world."

"But that's-"

"I'm not finished!" Truth tapped his cane on the ground and Roman shut up, floundering silently as the other two stared in growing panic. "You are also incapable of interrupting me, but I can interrupt you all as much as I like. That's the thing about Truth, you see, it can silence any opinion that contradicts it." Truth narrowed his eyes as he stared at Roman. "And you, dear prince, have an awful abundance of contradictory opinions."

"That's enough out of you mister!" Patton cried, pointing a reprimanding finger at him, but his confidence seemed to drain as Truth turned his bright orange eyes to him, them almost smoking with the vicious energy he was exuding.

"Hush, Patton. Honestly I would have thought you'd have more respect for me. You've been looking to be more open with your emotions, haven't you?"
