Evil had to be extinguished, Only fire could break its hold. The first man who defied his fear Chose the flames to save the world. He burned not witches, but their screams, The lies, the pain, the cruel schemes. Within a woman’s trembling frame, A demon freed, yet none to blame. But in the ash, what truth was shown? No devils perished in that pyre. They didn’t burn the cursed and damned— They burned the women in the fire.
