“Hell if I know how long this will last, and maybe it won’t even last me ‘til the end of this bullshit, but you better fuckin’ believe I’ll set all of you on fire ‘til the last second.”
Even though he was aware now of the burdens Mikoto-san and Anna had to bear as Kings, Yata wondered if they felt this alive when at the height of their powers. Burning bright, energy coursing through them, feeling almost invincible-- he felt that now, with his aura restored as if better than before. Separation from the thing that made you strong could do that to a person, he suspected, but as if he’d overthink such a thing. All he knew was that the Drones were igniting with each swift slam of his metal rod, with each brutal kick and punch. And there was no limit. He could go on and on without his aura ever disappearing again.
Despite this, he was still only human. And humans grew tired, occasionally took hits in return, ached and bled. He was not on his knees just yet, but to spare himself the pain of fighting solo any longer, the redhead was forced to duck into a trashed convenience store, sinking to the floor in one of the back aisles and breathing harshly. His face stung from where sweat dripped into cuts, his limbs throbbed and his knuckles were bloodied and bruised.
But he was alive. Fucking hurt as shit, but alive.
Though... how long could he hide here?
