If liberals think leftism is too utopian, too impractical, too idealistic... why do they even involve themselves in politics? If ridding the world of poverty is impossible then why do they care so much when Republicans slash welfare benefits?
There are only two options:
They, like their politicians, do not truly care about equity and are virtue signaling for their own selfish gain
They do care about equity but are drowning in cynicism and think that voting is their only raft
The latter just need a boat. Our boat.
If I believe with all my heart that I can achieve fluency in Mandarin, is success guaranteed? Of course not. But my failure is set in stone if I don’t have faith in my ability to succeed. What you believe to be impossible cannot be done.
This is what Buenaventura Durruti meant when he said that we carry the new world in our hearts.
We can do this. We’re gonna win. Hope is the wind in the sails that will take us there.
