OK we’ve talked a lot abt Meph and Shads recently so...here’s my takes on Shadow’s overall response to Meph’s attitude.

Like. He gets it. He knows what it’s like to lose everything -- including YOURSELF, in a way. But he also prioritizes the choice to do the right thing over pretty much all else. So for Mephiles to consider to choose himself over all else...Shadow hates how much he understands that, but it really, really, really, makes his blood boil. He’s also oddly jealous of Mephiles? The reason I say that is because Mephiles is doing something for HIM and not for other people...and Shadow kind of feels like he’s just living for everyone else at this point in time. And he wishes he had the capacity to choose for himself. And Shadow HATES that he feels jealous of a horrible person because of that. but emotions b like that

With all the friendliness Volt has towards Shadow...I’ve been dying for a thread where Shadow learns about what the Shadow of his universe did to him. Just to understand, well, 1) what his alternates are up to and 2) to see how he would react to that. To see that, yes, he is still capable of terrifying things and doing bad things. :^) but also maybe to help give Volt a chance to heal and move on from it in a way??? I dunno!

Shadow adores Harmony like. obviously. fsdjklfjdsklfds. But he tends to get kinda nervous with kids because of how strong he is and his attitude. But Harmony is a kid that can actually keep up with him!! Shadow, when doing Zone-hopping work for G.U.N., will keep some small trinkets on him for her in case he crosses paths with the two of them again. Unfortunately I don’t think he’d go seek out Volt or Harmony but he certainly won’t complain if he sees them again!

So after deciding I wanted Shadow to be part Black Arms but also never have any interaction with that side of his heritage I think it would be interesting for him to learn about it through Brinn? Of course it wouldn’t help him with his whole self-destruction thing but...it would be interesting to say the least. And give him more understanding about who he is and maybe why Gerald decided to infuse him with their DNA.

I think Shadow would be nothing short of...wary of Christopher. Reformed and Robotnik aren’t two words that go together in his mind so...y’know. But hey, one of my favorite relationships in the comics was the one Hope had with Shadow and I think if they can be good friends then why not. But for now? Shadow’s skeptical and wouldn’t hesitate to incapacitate him.

I definitely agree that these two would probably continue to butt heads. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for more friendly interactions between Sonic and Shadow but I don’t think Shadow would ever fully let go of his rivalry with Sonic and I can see that continuing to come out with Whirl. I also tend to write Shadow’s pride as constantly interfering with his ability to work on a team (Rouge is jut super persistent) and I think that these two’s interactions would continue to hinge on this like....clinging to pride. Whirl seems more able to let go of it when necessary; my Shadow relies on his pretty heavily though. “Work with HIM? Haha, no, I’m more than enough!” says Shadow t Hedgehog moments before someone reminds him that they are way more strong together than alone. lol

I think as time goes on these two would be much better at reading each other’s emotions without needing to say anything aloud. Both of them tend to be capable of internal self-destructing but Zero is more like “lol it’s fine i’m fine help” while Shadow is just ://// . I like to imagine at some point they’ll get to a point where, say, Zero’s ear twitches and Shadow’s like “what’s wrong. don’t lie”
