#3803 - Trymalium ledifolium - Star Buckthorn
Another one growing around the granite outcrop at Sullivan Rock, SE of Perth. It also grows on clay, gravel, loam and sand, on limestone and laterite and on outcrops and dunes. It reaches 2.5 m high, under ideal conditions.
Another SW endemic (surprise surprise) and first described in 1837 by Austrian botanist Eduard Fenzl, who I don't believe I've come across before. The bionomial refers to three slits in the seed capsule when it ripens, and the resemblence of the foliage to that of Ledum species (although Ledum is now considered a section of the genus Rhododendron).
