angst incoming!
so i was rewatching fitting in and noticed a moment I hadn't really put much thought into before
Thomas: Then theres hufflepuff, the loyal and friendly ones
Patton: aw, is that what you think of me Roman?
Roman: I mean, yeah you're the softest little puffball we got padre
Virgil: You don’t have to be mean to him-
Patton: AWWWW Thank you ROMAN!
and Virgil is genially shocked.
Now that we know for sure that Virgil used to be a dark side, I think I know why.
We always talk about the immense amount of pressure put on Roman to be perfect because he’s a light side, but we dont really look at it the other way around much.
Imagine with me:
You are raised to be seen as everything Thomas hates about himself, from the start you are told things like “you're a dark sides, you're bad” and “They will always hate you. Love is the enemy, trust no one.”
So rather then calling one another things like “Puff Ball” and “Loyal” you call each other things like “Trash Can” and “Cheater”
You grow up used to the insults because you dont see them as insults, because in you're world, in Virgils world, in Remus’ world, IN JANUS’ world, evil is good.
It has to be, because its all you’ve ever known.
You have to defy the norm, defy the light. You cant be the good guy, you shouldn't be a hufflepuff. Because that Love, that Kindness, that loyalty, Is a weakness.
besides, why be nice when they know no one would have liked them anyways.
