Saltwater
It is with a whimper, And not a bang, That a heart breaks. A pain, igniting behind The cage of ribs, Erupts and riots Against the muscles; Lungs are seared And wither to ashes, Veins are singed And left to smolder. The castle in your chest Crumbles, crashes, collapses, And the sky shatters, But all of this is a secret Buried six feet under A smile of closed teeth- It is with a whimper, And not a bang, That a heart breaks.
