The above error popped up for me yesterday when I launched The Sims 3 and it prevented my game from starting up. After clicking the OK button, it just went back to my Desktop! :o
Apparently, it happened because I updated to the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Version 1709 - released a couple of days ago) and also because I have SweetFX installed. It may also have something to do with updating Nvidia graphics card drivers although I didn’t actually do that as mine were up-to-date.
Anyway, I found the following solution worked for me so I thought I would post some step-by-step instructions here, just in case anyone else has this problem. :-)
How To Fix “TS3W.exe - Entry Point Not Found” Error
1. Navigate to your Sims 3 Game\Bin folder. Your path may be slightly different, depending on where you have the game installed but mine is here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
2. Find the file called dxgi.dll and copy/paste it somewhere as a backup, then rename the original file to d3d11.dll
3. Click ‘Continue’ in the box that pops up, then close the window.
4. That’s it! You should be able to launch your game now!
