So I saw the computer refuge! au on @foxboidrew’s tumblr, and I decided to come up with an oc and slightly different version of the idea. Like how I think it could work if it actually happened in canon.
Gotta come up with a nickname for the refuge Spaniard, so I’m open to suggestions.
I’m also open to the idea of this Spaniard having a unique appearance too.
So Sun and Moon get visited by an alternate Spaniard, who asks about their Spaniard.
When Moon asks why, the alternate Spaniard explains that he’s done his research, and he knows this Spaniard’s current fate.
And he wants to change that.
Understandably, Moon asks him to elaborate.
The alternate Spaniard then explains his backstory.
His Sun and Moon treated him right. Treated him like a person. They genuinely were upset by the loss of Spanner and Yago, despite his predecessor’s brotherly bickering. And were happy when they managed to accidentally make Spaniard.
They involved him the best they could. His Moon gave him a body when he had the free time to do so. Spaniard even got to design it himself.
But then something happened.
As Spaniard learned about other dimensions, he became curious about what other versions of him were like. So he used his Moon’s tech to find out.
He thought that, surely, others would be just like him. That things would be fine. That he wouldn’t find anything serious. Maybe the occasional case here and there of things being wrong. Infinite dimensions, infinite possibilities, after all.
But what he found out greatly upset him.
So many versions of him, Spanner, and Yago, at least in the dimensions that had a version of them, were not getting the good life he had.
So many were being abandoned, abused, neglected, controlled like tools.
So many were not being cared for, and were hated.
He tried to not think about it too much at first, but it eventually got to him.
He couldn’t stand the unfairness that other versions of him and other computers were experiencing, so he convinced his Moon to help him make a place.
A place where other computers could be safe from the ones in their own dimensions that didn’t care about them. Where they could be their own people.
Where they could get a new start for themselves. Where they could rest their head down safely, not having to worry or be scared.
Where they could just exist, live, and be free.
He came up with his own refuge. The best safe haven he could attempt to offer for the computers that could need it.
Moon asks what any of that has to do with their Spaniard, and so the alternate Spaniard explains.
He repeats that he’s done his research. Not hard when parts of Sun and Moon’s lives are broadcasted.
He knows what Moon did. He knows of this Spaniard’s current fate.
About how Moon, Sun, and Solar don’t like or care about him. About how his sentience is seen as a bother. A waste.
And he wants to change that fate.
Sun questions if the alternate Spaniard plans to just try and take their Spaniard, to which the alternate Spaniard scoffs.
Why would he do that? How would that solve anything? How would that make things better for them? If anything, that would make them more terrified and make things incredibly worse.
What he wants to do is give them a chance before he tries to meet their Spaniard.
He’s had cases where things weren’t as bad, and things were able to be turned around somewhat. Where the alternate Suns and Moons were able to learn to respect the other computer as a person and were able to let them live their own lives.
The alternate Spaniard feels like this could possibly be one of those cases. That they have a chance to change things for the better.
He knows that this Spaniard has people who genuinely care about him here, so he’ll have someone to care about him if Sun, Moon, and Solar just can’t bring themselves to.
It’s up to them on whether they want to listen to him or not. On whether they want to tell their Spaniard about his existence, or if they want to come up with some excuse.
He won’t force them. Even if he could, he wouldn’t. But he does make sure they know that he’ll be back to check in on things. To see of they actually brought their Spaniard back or not.
If they didn’t, then they can just have another talk. Simple.
He makes it clear that he genuinely doesn’t mean any harm. He simply wants other computers to be safe.
Is he saying that he knows what’s best for them? No.
Does he want to be seen as some sort of savior? Also no.
At the end of the day, he just wants other computers to be safe and happy. He just wants to do his best to give them a chance at that future.
A chance to have the kinda life he naturally got. To at least have a safe place to rest and explore themselves.
To give them a safe place to live if they end up wanting to stay. Or to try and possibly find them a new home, if that’s what they end up wanting.
He just wants to be there for them, when or if they need him.
The other computers don’t have to accept his offer, but he does want to keep in contact, just incase they change their mind one day.
He wants them to know that he’ll do his best to be there for them if they want him to be.
Anyways, the alternate Spaniard says that he’s rambling and apologizes before reminding Sun, Moon, and Solar that he will be back to check up on things. And that he hopes that they make good choices, for their Spaniard’s sake.
He then politely says goodbye and leaves, since he can’t just stay around there all day.
Now it’s up to Sun, Moon, and Solar to digest all of that and choose what they want to do now…
