i went into dbh thinking it was just a game about a twink robot and his old man who chase a rebel leader with a blond boyfriend + really heavy-handed metaphors about civil rights & discrimination and probably dumb choices on female characters
what i got from dbh is that the gameplay was some of my favorite (usually i hate QT events), i was delighted/surprised by it having THREE playable storylines!!!, i like the old man and twink robot but i also want twink robot and rebel leader to kiss?, still some weird choices with female characters (north’s endgame was ??? where did my blow shit up girl go ???) + yeah those were some PRETTY heavy-handed metaphors all right at the end there though i’m glad they had black/black-coded characters saying some of the things said but! but. gosh guys find other words for certain topics yikes-o
so i love hank/connor, which i know is a Problem for people, but also connor/markus! and north/markus but he’d never be comfortable with the way she LOSES HER ENTIRE PERSONALITY in the last part of the game. also kara/luther clearly but i wish we had more dialog between them like they had at the end where he’s like LOOK UHHH WE’RE GONNA DIE and she’s like NAH, because, also yes. (the whole KARA WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT ALICE thing kills me though) also another pairing which shall remain nameless because it’s Really Bizarre and no one else ships it, i’m sure, no don’t ask me it’s m/f and i’ll leave it at that
i do like how the Best Ending is supposed to be one with the most moral choices but a few that were like SELF PRESERVATION YO
but ALSO hank anderson was totally a punching-nazi antifa motherfricker and i love him.
so what i’m saying is that fandom confused me but what i got was a much better game than i thought, that i enjoyed playing and interacting with critically, because everything is flawed as fuck, also i cried like ten times, The End
