I ship Yoshiki and 'Hikaru', but only in the most label-defying way possible. I don't want anyone in-universe or out (including them) to know precisely what they are to each other. Like, they should know that they're incredibly important to each other and don't want to exist apart, but beyond that?
Is it romantic? Yes, but also no. Is it sexual? Yes, but also no. Is it platonic? Yes, but also no. Is it a particular kind of relationship for which only the eldritch tongue of R'lyehian has a word? Yes, but also no.
I'd be cool with them using conventional labels for convenience when talking to people not aware of what 'Hikaru' is. But I want them to do so with the understanding that there ultimately is no term that can accurately describe their relationship and that that's very much not a bad thing.
