I really liked all the assignments we completed this semester, but I found assignment #3, photography and self-design as the most influential personally. After this assignment I thought about how I portrayed myself throughout the rest of the assignments. I think the concept is very relatable to people my age and a lot of issues that are pertinent in social media today. I chose these 5 images for my final post because I thought they mostly represented who I am without much design or direction. They represent activities I actually do and things that are actually in my apartment. 

I never really put much thought into what I post on social media, but always appreciated those who took extra time to show the truth behind their posts or remind their followers that what they see is not their whole reality. It made me want to be more transparent or honest with my followers all though I feel like I already am. It also made me want to share more content in general. I do a lot of photoshop and illustrator projects that I would love to share with my followers and also offer any illustrator work for fun to connect with more people. 

This class is what I expected since it was recommended to me. I would love to recommend it to others and already have to my little sister who will be starting at Temple in the fall. I liked seeing everyone else’s pictures and taking inspiration from them, and I wish I connected with my classmates more. A weekly zoom session with the whole class would be really fun and a great way to connect the pictures to people.

The truth I was trying to express is that I fill my day with activities to distract myself during quarantine. It is significant to be because I have a lot of anxiety about my time during quarantine and in general with graduation, etc. The activities I do at home allow me to relax and keep busy instead of focusing on stress. I focused on the objects that were incorporated into my activities and the way they were arranged. I mostly shot the objects as they were as I was doing the activity, but in a few I moved some things around or positioned them to get a better photograph or be able to see everything better. 

I think since I focused on my daily activities it would make others reflect on their own truths since I’m obviously not showing every single activity every day. I only showed interesting and fun activities and not ones that were boring or insignificant to me, so my viewers would only see a highlight reel basically. I would hope that this would make others realize how they choose to post certain activities they do. I think individuals should be feel as responsible for posting images as they want to today. If they feel strongly about how people represent themselves online versus in real life, they should take it upon themselves to fix that issue. If not, I don’t think there should be an obligation for individuals to post completely truthful images since they own their own accounts and people can interpret them any way they want. I think in the future more people will care about the responsibility of posting images and therefore will take more responsibility themselves.

I chose to photograph the uncertainty of life. I started this shooting week thinking I’d be in my apartment in Philly the entire time, and ended up leaving on the second day to go back home. I wanted to document my transition and hopefully take some pictures that reflected the tough time of transition. I chose to photograph some of my activity in the transition and some images that represented the change. 

I do agree that photography is a way of meaning because they show how the photographer views the subject, no matter if it represents the subject accurately. It shows a certain truth that the photographer relates to and therefore shows their truth. Images are shared today that are curated to show what a person wants everyone else to see. Even if two friends share images from the same outing or event, they may share different views or times that were special to them. This represents the photographer more and makes the picture more special for them. I like to post pictures of a lot of my activity like places I travel, food I eat, music i listen to, to share an insight into my day.
