What if the positions switch? Mc is the snake in the mountains and sans is from the village.
I’m assuming this is TSitM right? Right. So different from the other ask where she’s a snake and sans is still also a snake (this one)!
I imagine if reader was the snake (naga) in the mountain, then the village will consist of monsters like Sans (the kind without special lower-bodies haha)
I imagine reader’s personality would stay the same (but different given the different environment), except now she’s alone in the mountains guarding the leaves. Unlike Sans she’s more timid and would rather hide than do any direct confrontation. Shy as well, she doesn’t like to be seen, which is a problem when she’s given the task of being the tree of “golden leaves”’s guardian. She of course does her job, making deals, though she’s more lenient with the deals. Would rather do something passive like a cursing anyone who doesn’t follow through with their end.
Sans stays mostly the same as well, maybe working in the village as a farmer with his brother. He hears stories of the... different(?) monsters from the outside, tales of a snake woman in the mountains that protects the tree. I imagine their perception of her to be less antagonist-y than the village in tsitm’s views on Sans. She’s seen as less malevolant, probably because of her soft nature, and they understand she has a job to do (though some monsters probably also say her “benevolence” is a facade and she actually wants to dine on your flesh OooOOoOo don’t trust her etc. etc.). Funnily enough... I think Sans would fall in love with the thought of her, hearing the stories just makes him... think of her, imagine what she’s like, this cute snake lady that, from what he’s heard, doesn’t seem like she wants to hurt anyone and only asks for deals out of necessity. She sounds shy and sweet, and Sans would really love to meet her if he’s sure she won’t try to eat him.
I imagine they meet when Papyrus falls ill, and despite their best healing magic, he doesn’t get any better. He’s finally urged to go up the mountain, and when he sees her... oh she’s better than he imagined, only emerging when he steps into the cave. There’s this soft, slightly anxious look on her face when she sees him that makes his soul jump. He imagines many people might underestimate her from the way she acts, but he has no doubt she can fend off any attempt-thieves... though he also doesn’t like the thought of someone taking her as weak and trying to take advantage of that.
Sans needs a moment to process his thoughts when she asks him what he seeks- he’s just thinking about holding her hand and touching her tail.
Of course, when Sans tells her the story she sympathizes with him, she doesn’t WANT to take too much of him but she has to take something equal. Instead of asking for something immediately like how original guardian Sans does, she asks first what they’re willing to part with. And Sans? Almost immediately, in a moment of oh my stars i love you, just blurts out
“my soul.”
She... probably panics at that, she doesn’t want to take his soul, that sounds too much-
(Meanwhile Sans’ blushing and completely serious and completely love-struck at pretty snake lady hksfdjlf)
She tries to ask for something else while she’s thinking of something equal she could take without it being his soul, but I imagine Sans tells her what he cherishes most is his brother, and he went all the way here to save him, so don’t worry about it
Considering it’s his SOUL here, he seems entirely TOO casual about it.
Reader: If you offer me your soul, you might be empty, unless you stay with me-
Sans: PERFECT
Reader: what
Sans: i mean. oh no how horrible, i’d have to stay with you to feel whole... 👀 👀
Since the deal can be taken as “a soul for a soul” and Sans doesn’t offer any other treasure (”What about I take your farm?” “nah, my brother needs that.”), she... reluctantly agrees. Sans probably thinks it’s funny that she’s the one that’s reluctant about the deal, but it’s done, and Sans gets the leaves. Like tsitm Sans she let’s him go home for a week before she has to take his soul, to which Sans comes up to live with her later, and she finds his company a relief after so long living alone... and Sans gets to live with his snake lady crush-
(I imagine you don’thave to worry about Sans. Reader has a duty, yes, but she didn’t really like taking in the first place, so she’ll reach through loopholes to make it so Sans can go home without losing his soul or anything... maybe by “claiming it” as hers with a magic mark, so she still has his soul. She’s a softie, she thinks they chose the wrong naga to take up this guardian business djhks)
