I'm getting withdrawals from no new snek snas content Q__Q So, I'll treat it by asking what would've happened in this scenario (which is what I actually theorized would happen before chapter 3 came out XD): What would happen if the Reader was held back by the village (or, more specifically, perhaps her mother) stopping her from going back to Sans? Like, she was locked up or hidden away somewhere, against her will?
Sorry this took so long to ask ;-;
When you told her about the deal you made with The snake, she was horrified.
“You are not offering yourself up to The snake!”
“But mum-”
“You’re the only one I have left little dandelion, what’s the point of being saved when I have no one? I can’t lose you like I lost him!”
You try to hold back your emotions and try to tell her about the consequences of not keeping up a monster’s deal... you have to go back to him, you don’t know what’ll happen if you don’t.
She’s hysterical and can’t think logically, she thinks she’s going to forever lose her daughter to a monster... so on the 7th day, when you think of leaving, she locks you in your room. The village knows about your deal and they’ve all agreed to keep watch on that day, making sure you stay in your room. They just have to wait until midnight passes, then you’d have broken the deal. You try to ask them what the end goal is, it’s not like you’re under a spell- they have to let you out! Everyone reassures you that everyone’s on guard at night, everyone carrying torches and weapons, making sure he won’t be able to come near without a struggle... they assure her, she’s safe.
The time draws closer to midnight and she knows she doesn’t have a chance now. Even if they let her go now, no matter how fast you try to run, you wouldn’t make it. Everyone tells you to sleep, but you can’t, you stay up until midnight, a candle by your bedside. Having no way to tell the time yourself, you only know it’s midnight when you overhear people outside mention it. You sigh and settle into bed. That’s it, you’ve broken the deal... you don’t know what happens after that, so you try to sleep-
... The candle by your bedside snuffs out. Your windows were barred close by the others while you tried to convince them not to do this- there is no draft in your room. It’s suddenly much quieter outside, and the torch lights dimmed. But you hear nothing. You get an uneasy feeling in your chest while you try to figure out what’s going on.
Then, a noise.
The sound of something- someone... slithering. It casts shadows on your walls, dancing across, sounding like it’s circling your house. You try to follow the sounds, standing up from your bed and turning around-
“hello, my love.”
His voice, though low in a whisper, startled you almost out of your skin, but Sans had quickly placed his hand over your mouth. When you look at the window, it’s suddenly open. You immediately try to apologize, you tried, they wouldn’t let you- please, you don’t want to die, please, you didn’t mean for this to happen...
You start to cry, sobbing and sniffling... and he takes a thumb to your face and wipes them away.
“oh don’t cry my dear, it breaks my soul... i’m not here to punish you.” His voice is soft and caring, comforting as he rubs your back and holds you close. “i know what happened, you don’t need to be sorry... it is unfortunate what happened here, but it isn’t your fault.”
You almost start feeling calmer when you panic if he’s going to punish the others, and you beg to him not to hurt them, they just wanted to keep you safe.
Sans sighs... you’re just so innocent and pure. It hurts him a bit that people see him this way, but he doesn’t blame them.
“... i won’t, my love. but we must leave.”
His movements are swift and quiet as he carries you along with the drawstring bag you prepared earlier. When you see outside, the people who were patrolling your house were all... asleep...
...
The next day, they find your room empty.
Try as they might, they can’t avoid the monsters of myths.
