*The Unclean Soldier*

The unclean man gets no respect

Just as a dad with no one to listen

His thoughts on branching out has suffocated him

With a new wife

And

With a new life

Because his own world seemed so estranged

And

Although he buries his pain into positive soil

The plant that sprouts up is bitter sweet

Jesus is the only way that leads to life

But

A boy such as himself is too tiny to reach him

But

If he was able to stretch forth his hands

maybe then his life wouldn't be such a

Mess

In order to escape his reality

He becomes a soldier

And

In this army now deployed

He combats

Angels and demons

The war raging

But

He has already won or lost

Though he may fight today

Many

Tomorrow's later he is older

And

A bit wiser

Than he was before

That young man now understands perspective

And

Though he was naive and unaware before

He realized that even when he was a kid

That there were always two people

One who smiled up close and personal with a

Knife hidden behind their back

And

The other

Who secretly rooted for him

And

Took massive damage in order to protect him

Even when the boy did not realize it then

But

In a way

There lay two roles

That the human mask can not cover

And

One plays the hero

And

One plays the villain

But

They both look identical

And

Both warm to the touch

It is a subtle distinction

Between the two

Although the soldier lay wait unto danger

His mind

And

Combat experience

Has lead him to this final question

And

It is this.....
