I too feel confused as hell with the fandom, like why are we questioning 17 years of actions over one fucking rebound with a problematic guy? She is suffering right now mentally and she hasn't given me a reason to think that she is a pos.

If she were going on infowars and making alex jones look sane in comparison, that would be something else entirely...

I'm only 25 yet I feel way too old for the fandom right now, a lot of people the fandom has thrown away nuance, perspective and context right out of the window.

Anon a lot of stuff that is being put on Matty has been taken out of context. Even as a poc, i can tell you that but that doesn't negate anyone's feelings about his words. Though, here he is being equated to Chris brown, Nicki's ra**** husband and even Harvey Weinstein. I truly don't get why and what is happening rn. And why would she take your word on his character when she herself was cancelled for FALSE accusations back in 2016 when the GP decided not to like her? she's going to make her own assessment of him.

Your reply to that last ask was perfect, I don’t get why Taylor is held to standards no other artist is and not just female - anything and everything and everyone associated with her is somehow her fault or she needs to speak up etc - it’s exhausting for me so I do not know how Taylor copes with that level of pressure… she’s better than me Bcos I’m too petty and would be like no screw you and call it out - sometimes I wish she would 😆

yeah, it would truly be exhausting. I really feel that our fandom needs a boundary check on what they can speculate about and what not. Taylor is NOT an activist. She's a popstar who sometimes talks about her political opinion. You shouldn't depend on taylor to inform you about your stance.

someone brought this up in my inbox but in a very rude manner so wanted to talk about it without the ask,

yes i will always side-eye taylor for choosing to work with david russell, a director who assaulted his own trans niece, after being on the time’s cover of silence breakers.

And i especially don’t like when the tumblr community chooses to completely ignore or gloss over this.
