Time Line (Rick Flag Edition)

HEYYY BABES so I have composited a “time line” of Rick Flag’s life so to speak that I’ve been using as a reference point, so if any of you would like to use it at any point, feel free to!

NOTE: This is purely Head canon

Nov 4, 1983: Born in Washington DC and lived there up until 1992

1992 - 2001: Lives in Texola, OK for Protective Services because of his Dad (this is where we probably get the good ol’ country Rick from) **

2001: Joins West Point begrudgingly because of father, but when 9/11 happens develops the patriotism we see in the first Suicide Squad

2005: Graduates West Point, joins Army as Lt.

2008: Gets ranked Captain, starts special operations

2011: Joins a team of Seals to kill Bin Laden

2012: Qurac mission with Robert DuBois

2014: Gets ranked Lt. Col. Joins ARGUS

2015: Gets ranked Col. Meets June/ falls in love with her

2016: Whole SS Movie

2017: June breaks up with him. Relocates to Louisiana once a permanent member of Task Force X

2018: His mom (several years younger than his dad) dies of cancer, Rick puts his dad in a retirement home in Louisiana, ***

2019: His dad bites the dust, as a way to cope, he makes fun of Waller’s shirt (this is when she decides he’s gotta go) ****

2021: Corto Maltese Mission

Additional Notes:

- His dad was born 1925, joined WW2 in 1943 at 18 (original leader of the original Task Force X), continues missions until he meets Rick’s mom in 1976, they get married and then have Rick in 1983 (His dad would be 58)

- When they relocate to Texola, OK, its because of a threat for Rick Sr.

- Rick Sr is very very very toxic to Rick Jr (our Rick), verbally and mentally abusive (this is all he knows how to do as he was military his whole life)

This is what drives Rick to join West Point, to prove his dad wrong, then 9/11 happens

His dad is a real ball buster

Which is why Rick is super insensitive in the first Suicide Squad movie

The reason I have him getting ranked Colonel in 2015 is because by the time he’s done with West Point, it would take approx 15 years to earn the title of Colonel, but I did speed this up to 10 years

2017-2018 are really shitty years for Rick (he was a mamas boy after all), this is when I think his turning point would be, I.E. when we start seeing the 180 change from the first SS movie to the second SS movie

Definitely put Rick making fun of Waller’s shirt in 2019 as it was a way of coping with his dad’s death and additionally I think this also makes Waller’s planning for team A more significant. The fact that she has been plotting his “death” for two years makes it more significant imo
