I haven't talked about my love for tss reverse steve enough lokey

I know none of this is canon but I love to imagine that he's the result of the steves desperation after rainbow disappeared. They try to recreate him, but without the same recourses and power they had the first time, he comes out wrong

He spends years trying to please his creators before joining nightmare, not exactly as revenge, but as an escape. The reverse dimension is given to him by nightmare in return for his help.

The reverse dimension is a place of solitude and rest for reverse, where (if I remember well enough how the dimension functions), he can watch interactions between other steves without the fear of being attacked or judged. Eventually though, nightmare decides his help isn't worth keeping the dimension alive.

This is where the tss plot comes in, without the power from nightmare to power his dimension, he turns to sapping power from the rainbow town in a desperate attempt to save his home.

I dont remember enough about canon to know how canon compliant this is lol but im sure its very not

It was fairly difficult to get a design down for reverse, especially since I haven't fully watched TSS again in over 3 years. So I don't fully remember how he came to be in tss.

I thought that since a "regular" design for reverse would look, uh... kinda. I don't want to be mean when I write this, but a design with a regular, non-inverted skintone and only clothing with inverted colors is. In my overtly pretentious opinion (sarcasm), looks a bit unaplealing. So i instead chose to use his inherent campyness and eyes straining color scheme to an advantage.

To my knowledge, reverse just started out as "Rainbow, BUT EVIL OoOOOOOooooOH~" so why not play into that?

Make him look intimidating, with more sharp edges and harsher color transitions than his non-inverted counterpart that's softer and nicer. And to REALLY get to the point that he is reverse, his entire body and colorscheme can be inverted itself to reveal a, albeit more tacky, design of a Rainbowsteve.
