Starter for @tsukkiance for the IC Secret Santa
Who even thought a secret Santa with other schools was a good idea ? And why did he even decide to join in ? He groans as he reads the card, a dreadfully clear ‘ Tsukishima Kei ’ scrawled on it. But ! He has already said he would do it, so he can’t back out now, can he ?
It had taken about an hour, walking though the crowded mall, looking at the displays as he searched for some decent gift for a guy was not anywhere near decent for his standards. And then came the wrapping; messy as he had struggled with the yellow paper, topped with white bow. He frowns and glares at it with hatred and frustration, deciding to tear it up once again until it looks completely perfect.
He regrets his life choices.
But is the thought what matters, and all of the hard work and time he spent on it; because Oikawa Tooru doesn’t half ass anything, even if it’s buying a gift for someone he barely knows. Which is why he expects some appreciation for it when he leaves the neckleace ( a silver chain with a treble clef-- it was pretty and simple, something he thought the other might like and it had caught his attention, remembering how he wears head-phones half of the time ) on the table with the other gifts, sticking a card that reads ‘ For: Megane-kun ’ on it. The gift exchange is about to start, so he joins the others and expects for the signal to open them.

My muse has just woken from a coma. Send me ✜ for my muse’s reaction to seeing yours standing by their bedside
She opened her eyes slowly with the sound of beeping in the background. Is that my alarm? She usually gets up before it ever goes off. Weird. She’s so tired but she can’t miss school because of that. She turns her head towards the beeping faced with a heart monitor and Tsukishima Kei. Part of her is relieved that she isn’t missing school and that she’s getting good medical treatment. The other part is confused about why she even needs medical treatment.
She’s struggling to stay awake, trying to find something to hold her attention. The beeping is rhythmic and almost soothing. The blandness of the room isn’t helpful. Instead she stares at Tsukishima, too tired to find it awkward. The glare coming from his glasses is distracting anyway. To be fair it actually helps wakes her up a bit. She starts trying to understand her situation. There’s nothing to help her breath which means that there’s nothing blocking her air ways. She can vaguely feel something on her arm. Most likely an IV. Which means she’s either been unconscious long enough to require nutrients being given to her like that or she’s being given medicine.
Where was she before this? In a car. In a car because most of the memory was staring at her feet, feeling nauseous with her head laying against something hard and plastic. Probably a dashboard. Oh god she was in a car crash. How serious was it? Sitting like that of course she hit her head but what about the rest of her? She looked down at the rest of herself to find a splint at her ankle and bruises on her arms. What about the driver? She looked back to Tsukishima, wondering exactly how long she’d been silently waking up like this. “Who was driving?”
"That's messed up." | only if you want to!
3. Step Siblings
When Etsuko’s mom remarried she hadn’t expected her husband’s son to be Tsukishima from Karasuno. Small world it seems. She didn’t know until she saw him at the wedding ceremony. Possibly the most awkward situation of her life. God he’s her step-brother now. She has two step-brothers all because her mom decided she could rush right into another marriage. How weird is this situation? She lives away from her mom and he lives with his mom without his dad and they both live in the same prefecture. That kind of coincidence shouldn’t happen.
What also shouldn’t happen is having a small crush on a guy who suddenly becomes your step-brother. She’s used to never acting on crushes and most of the time out right ignoring them but this situation is more complicated. It’s not as if they live under the same roof. That’s a comfort. Complicated none the less.
It was her grandfather’s idea to invite the ‘newest additions to the family’ over. Etsuko isn’t entirely sure the elder knows that’s how you refer to newborns or the fact that the Tsukishima family isn’t much of anything to him but she doesn’t have the heart to correct him. If she had to have such an awkward encounter she insisted it be dinner so she could have an excuse for lack of eye contact.
She made a point to approach Tsukishima about it as last minute as possible in hopes that his family would be too busy and have to take a rain check. It didn’t work out like that and now here she was, eating next to him on the small table that had to be moved inside since the adults took up the small dinner table. She was used to being to eating in her room when company was over but this was just insulting.
“I am so sorry that they excluded you like this. I’m sure you’d rather eat with your mom and brother together at your own house.” She says staring at the still full plate in front of her. She wasn’t sure what else she could say so she started eating again.
