I was drawing my illustration for Azul's birthday and I suddenly felt the urge to draw a laid-back Azul because I just wanted him to feel totally secure and peaceful in his environment. Behind this all evil controlling mafia boss, there must be a soft Azul well hidden 🥺

I just imagine Azul sitting on a couch and crossing his legs in a very relaxed way because I noticed he usually crosses them in a "formal" way. Of course he cannot resist reading one of his last contracts and he's holding his favorite coin. I assumed these are items that make him feel in his comfort zone. Ok the open shirt and the loose straps I added them for the pleasure of the eyes. Evil Azul as well...

As he seems to control every aspect of his life in order to look impeccable mostly in front of people around him, I just assume this must be an exhausting lifestyle to keep up on long term.

Through this illustration, I just wanted to express that performing and being at the top all the time is mentally exhausting (and yes I might be referring a bit to myself as well…) and enjoying life just the way it is without planning or controlling everything is also important for your mental health. Anyway, I am going very deep in the meaning of this drawing but as weird as it might sound, it made me feel better drawing Azul with all this in mind. These are quite the things I’ve been dealing with lately and I needed to share it.

Another version of Azul with a different gradient map I like and a small animation I created with Azul feeling a bit alone after an exhausting week:

Through this animation, I assume Azul might have his moments where he can relax a bit more but would do it hidden from the others even the twins. So what’s better than your own Tsum appearing and giving you the love you deserve. Yes Azul, you’re enough as you are without performing all the time you precious baby boy.
