The cause is kind of terrifying, and boy howdy do I wish there'd been a camera around.
For reference, the 1958 Lituya Bay tsunami in Alaska, caused by a 7.8 earthquake-triggered landslide moving so fast the front acted like an air blast, was 1720 feet (524m):
One recreational boat in the bay at the time managed to surf it; the other wasn't so lucky.
