#QOTD: What would you do if you work up on a desert island with a group of strangers? . . 🏝️ . . Morning all! I hope you are doing well and have a marvelous weekend planned. I plan on trying to clean my library (ha!) and organize from the wonderful #ttbf last weekend. No complaints though! Attending the festival made me think back to where I started in YA and how far I've come. NIL was one of the first books I read so it holds a special place in my heart. . . 🏝️ . . #ireadya #yalit #yalovin #bookstafeatures #booknerdigans #booknerd #bookdragon #bookworm #igbooks #igreads #instabooks #instaread #instareads #bookstagrammer #bookishallure #bookishmerch #bookishmerchandise #fiercefeatures #loverofbooks #bookstagramfeature #bookstagram #bookish #booksofinstagram #bookaholic #mybookfeatures #creativebookstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B3zOxQvgyeS/?igshid=163pn51gdf25y

Calling all teens from diverse backgrounds: is there a book that speaks to your community that you haven’t read yet? Is there a crucial story missing from the books that are being published? …
Young writers (ages 11-18) here’s an essay contest for you! Deadline to submit is September 1st and thirty winners get to attend an exclusive event at Texas Teen Book Fest with some super cool YA authors!
A big shoutout to everyone who has attended the #DRY tour events so far! Met lots of wonderful people over the weekend at #TTBF and Blue Willow Books in Texas. Here's a reader with a hell of a Storyman collection, and a pic of me with my friends Ellen Hopkins and Andrew Smith. Texas Teen Book Fest 2018
It was a great time! We had a little trouble on the way, so we missed the opening address, but we still had a great time! I don’t have any problems admitting that I went to the Plot Twist! Classic Tales Retold panel, specifically to see Kiersten White.
But! I was very pleasantly surprised and delighted by the rest of the panel! Joining Kiersten White was the moderator Julie Dao talking about her book Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, L.L. McKinney and A Blade so Black, and Alexa Donne’s Brightly Burning. It was a lot of fun, and they speculated the differences between retellings and reimaginings.
Next up, of course I had to go and creep on my fave, Kiersten White. She was so great, and I loved seeing her again. We didn’t get to chat much, because she was a very busy lady, but it was nice to catch up!
After a brief break for lunch, we stopped in for the Relationship Status: Who Cares? I’m Awesome panel, which didn’t really stay on topic, as most of the books featured actually focused on relationships... David Levithan was there promoting Someday, Morgan Matson’s Save the Date, Lillam Rivera’s The Education of Margot Sánchez, Cynthia Letich Smith’s Hearts Unbroken, and of course the wonderful and gorgeous Nic Stone promoting Odd One Out. Although I did have some time to chat with Nic, and we compared notes about shoes.
And the last panel of the day was by far the best! I came exclusively for @omgcheckplease‘s very own Ngozi Uzaku. But! I was introduced to Alex London who I immediately fell in love with, and bought his book Black Wings Beating (fantasy about killer birds guys!!!) Also present was Marissa Meyer promoting Archenemies, and April Genevieve Tucholke’s The Boneless Mercies. The panel was a lot of fun!
I did stop by the Penguin Teen @penguinteen table where they were doing a cover contest, which was super fun, so keep an eye out for that!
And of course the @macmillanusa table was certainly popping. L.L. McKinney’s Blade so Black was sold out by the time I got there!
All in all, it was a great experience, and I’m excited for the Texas Book Festival in two weeks! Make sure to keep track of updates on my twitter feed.
