Contributor Spotlight: Strider314

Our next contributor for the Ties That Bind zine is Strider314! Li will be contributing a page art for the zine!

When asked about their favorite Eruri moment, they said that it is when Erwin compliments Levi’s success in the female titan arc (S1E19, 21:46). Instead of silence or acceptance to the compliment (which usually happens in any similar context), Levi responds that this is successful only because of the countless deaths of comrades. Even after Erwin impassively says, “is that so?” Levi continues to reconfirm the guilt that he and Erwin should feel at this moment.

"Of course, this is my subjective interpretation," Li added. "To me, the moment signifies the foundation that makes their relationship come with layers: Levi always actively determines his ideas. It is not the blind trust or simple obedience that exists between them. Knowing Levi is not being passive in this relationship just makes his trust in later scenes (the whole Shiganshina arc!) more touching. What can be more sincere than a self-determined individual giving out their full trust?"
