The 'we have one restaurant everyone goes to for "fine dining" but it's actually shit' and the 'turn off one wrong dirt road and feel the moment of fear as all of a sudden every house has a confederate flag and you know if you step on the wrong grass you're getting shot' the 'yes I know every single person in town, no I don't know anyone in town' the 'i met this one person by chance and we keep accidentally being in proximity of each other so I guess we're soulbound best friends now' the 'i slept with a man and now everyone is being very quiet not talking to me anymore' the 'yeah this hunter guy was pretty cool and OH he's apart of the kkk isn't he.' the shitty gas station at the edge of town that has some kind of strange mystical quality in the fluorescent lights and raccoons.

I *know* this town, I know where that gas station is and where that abandoned building everyone has a different story for is. It's so nostalgic and vivid

usually urban fantasy is in like Vegas or New York, it's somewhere big and bright that people can recognize; it's fun to see horror at home.

Is this story getting suspiciously well written? Ik people joke about reading a story that's 'well that was pretty fucked up huh?' and that's it but the emotional impact left in the wake of a good tragedy when you don't know it's going to be a good tragedy. Dear god.

When I go into crime and punishment I go in with the mindset that everything is horrible and will continue to be so. When I read a fucking comedy series about a man in boxers??? Absolutely not (this is entirely unrelated I'm just upset about it still). What do you MEAN there is no happy ending sometimes what do you MEAN I just have to sit here and stew with the knowledge that the characters ive grown so dearly invested in are just, ruined now.
