people who have so deeply misunderstood everything taylor said in ttpd (and the in summation poem) that they're now trying to go back and figure out which songs are "actually" about mh on folklore, evermore, and midnights bothers me so bad. and i really wish i could just not care, but it's like how are you this bad at interacting with art? you're focusing on the wrong thing so much that you're completely missing the entire point in this song, you're missing what's being said, the whole thing is going straight over your head. you're looking for clues instead of looking for patterns, themes, lyrical motifs.....!!

No one is aware of how obsessed I am from my essence of being a philologist, which is the entire core of my person, the fact that Taylor Swift has released an album called Tortured Poets and The Anthology on these piano poems 📜🎹 !! (more than songs, they feel like piano poems) everything is either hyperbole, sattire or/and an exaggeration of the tragedy and I LOVE it entirely

I'm a little late to the ttpd convo but...

I am always thinking about the connection between "the coward claimed he was a lion" & "you said I needed a brave man, then proceeded to play him" & "how gallant to save the empress from her gilded tower, swinging a sword he could barely lift" and I've never seen anyone talk about it!

I could be totally off on this but theres something very Reputation/Call It What You Want/Dancing With Our Hands Tied about it all

yeah like to me, in the context of the poem, that particular line was written with matty in mind. but it's pretty funny when you consider how many fans mistook most of the stuff on ttpd written about joe to be about matty healy lmao. because you're right, there is much to consider about how that line applies to the savior complex joe had from meeting taylor in 2016! his quiet, normal life was a balm to her at the time, but he took it as "i never put myself in the position you did to be hurt like that because i would never climb so high and aren't i so much smarter and more serious in my work for it"
