So may I ask, and INFINITE APOLOGIES if you answered/mentioned this somewhere already, but did you start writing TtS with that particular ending in mind? Or did it just sort of evolve that way? I'm always so curious to find out which stories were mapped out heavily beforehand and which evolved along the way more freely!

I think Carla is the only other person to ask if I had like…a definite plan in mind when I started this story, but starting TtS i had absolutely NO IDEA what the hell i was doing.

This was a Nanowrimo project, initially. I started 7 days late, already 10,000 words behind everyone else. I just kind of went with the wind and didn’t really go into planning much in the beginning. I’ve tried planning out my entire novel before Nanowrimo before, and those stories flopped every time I tried. So this past year I went in with no direction of where to go lmao

Tbh I have a “summary” file that basically compiled the events i wanted to happen per chapter as well as notes and other stuff to keep me going/keep details straight/etc. But this doesn’t start until chapter 11 xD so everything up until that point was just…randomly pieced together with no real plan in mind.

The ending is honestly a favorite chapter of mine (with the church scene of chapter 20 being the other), and honestly…that’s the one that was most recently mapped out. Like, all the others I had planned way in advance cause I was like “ooh can’t wait for this to happen!” but chapter 23 all i knew was *and spoiler alert here for anyone who hasn’t read it yet* there was a face off between Valentine/Magnus/Alec.

if you want a look into my insane mind, these were the first few notes of chapter 23:

Valentine goes to the Warlock Headquarters, and threatens tocommit mass murder

STANDOFF BETWEEN ALEC AND VALENTINE

Valentine’s got Magnus at cutthroat/knifepoint

(some of the summary notes for different chapters are even jokes for myself cause i’m an idiot)

it’s very vague and nothing too specific. I didn’t mention what happened in between this, cause I had no idea how to get there. So I had to sit myself down when the time came to it to SERIOUSLY think about how the events in 23 connected together and would play out.

So tl;dr no, i had no idea on how this was going to end when I started this story. I barely had an idea of where it was going to go at all. But at the same time, I kind of like that, as I took the same journey you guys did while reading. For most of 23, I was shaking or freaking out over the really big action parts, so I was experiencing it a lot like you guys have reading it!!!

Hello lovelies!

For those of you reading Take the Stand, I realize it’s been a little over a month since I updated. First, I’m SO SORRY it’s taken me so forever long to get this chapter out. But I’m glad to say that the next chapter is FINALLY on its way!!!

Because uni is finally over, I’ve had more time to devote to this fic.

I hope to get Chapter 21 out by either tonight or sometime tomorrow (Friday)!!

It’s a little over 12k rn, and with a couple more scenes to go and a read through, I’m excited to share the next chapter with you guys!!

TAKE THE STAND CH 20

alright guys! kind of a late update BUT!!! 

Take the Stand chapter 20 should be up and ready by tomorrow (tho it’s 2am here so i guess...later today????) 

this chapter is the most massive of the entire story, capping out at 22k. Because it’s so massive, I have to read through it myself to make sure most of the grammatical errors and stuff are out so you guys can enjoy it.

but yes, the next chapter is currently in its last stages of editing, and it should be up before the end of Monday!
