more youtube recs (the deep cuts)
aka youtubers i dig who aren't just funny white men
anna akana. an asian, bisexual, self-help queen, passing on tidbits of knowledge from therapy and other personal experiences. her videos are short and sweet but they're well-produced, funny, and often even thought-provoking.
baumgartner restoration. julian baumgartner is an art conservator-restorer. his videos reveal how he cleans up some of the filthiest, most damaged artworks out there. it is so satisfying to see the final product, but also v interesting to see the process behind restoring each art piece.
bestdressed. you may have seen ashley's vids floating around your yt homepage. don't worry, i was equally intimated by the unattainably-put-together outfits that grace her thumbnails, but what really drew me in was her dry humor, genuineness, and intense passion, especially for fashion. a walking aesthetic and meme at the same time.
megan batoon. a woman of witchcraft, purely by her own volition. endlessly funny, relatable, and shockingly talented at whatever she puts her mind to—which can be anything from learning a hula hoop tiktok dance to renovating an entire master bathroom. i suppose the closest yt label she aligns with is "lifestyle vlogger", but idk, it's more like she just fucks around and posts whatever. (also yes, this is the megan i included in my latest fic. what about it)
sierra schultzzie. a really lovely, outgoing fashion/beauty/lifestyle content creator. her clothing try-ons, honest reviews, and styling vids already make for good content, but her emphasis of body positivity is really refreshing, and frankly, needed in the beauty community.
simon and martina. a canadian couple who lived in seoul for 8 years before moving to kichijoji, japan. their little adventures are fascinating and their personalities are very fun and inviting. martina also sometimes talks about about her struggles with chronic pain (EDS), and that goes to show how genuine and open they are in their videos.
twosetviolin. youtube has practically already made best friends, brett and eddy gods in the classical music sphere, but as someone who can't play instruments for shit, i was mainly drawn to their humor and love for music. they also Slap at the violin – v entertaining, 10/10.
