Here’s What’s Happening in Tucson This Weekend!

Fri 6/7 - Sun 6/9

Happy Friday everyone!  Triple-digit temperatures are here this weekend, yea! Hat? Check. Sunscreen? Check. Driving gloves? Check. And so begins our love-hate relationship with summer, right? At least we're not shoveling snow!

Tonight it’s traditional jazz at Main Gate Square when Haboob takes the stage in Geronimo Plaza starting at 7:30 PM.  Fred Fox School of Music presents Tocalo participants and guest artists during a Chamber Percussion Concert tonight at Crowder Hall starting at 7:30 PM.

Play all day and party all night as the downtown area turns into a playground for those adventurous enough to hang out in the heat. Indoor activities and outdoor stages will be bustling until the wee hours.

Free admission to the Tucson Museum of Art on Sunday during Second Sundaze at TMA. See some of the collected works of Josef Albers.

This weekend see everything imaginable for improving and decorating your home inside and out, at the Pima County Home & Garden Show. Doors open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:00 AM.

Not quite the same as ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ but almost as much fun. Get your coffee and bagels at AJ’s and stroll the parking lot at La Encantada and view hundreds of local cars that have been maintained or restored to perfection during Tucson Cars and Coffee.

Sunday in Reid Park starting at 7pm hear the orchestra with special guest conductor Toru Tagawa and featuring the Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo High School.

Happy Friday Everyone!

It’s not quite the same as in the old Cactus League days, but we do have baseball here in Tucson! The Tucson Saguaros have the best record in the Pecos Baseball League and you can see them play today, tomorrow and Sunday.  Check out info and schedules here.

Soccer fans can catch FC Tucson tonight at 7:30 as they take on Orlando City B on the pitch at Kino North Stadium!

Just in time for our summer temperatures, this Saturday is National Trails Day as declared by the American Hiking Society.  Locally, you can participate by helping build The Painted Hills Trail on the west side starting at 7:00am.  Volunteers are still needed and you can read more and register here.

During hot summer days, we think about Cool Summer Nights.  Luckily the Desert Museum has planned out the entire summer’s schedule. Tomorrow night you can learn more about dinosaurs from Richard Thompson, PhD at the UofA Dept of Geosciences during The Desert Museum’s Dino Night.   Not to be outdone, Reid Park Zoo offers Summer Safari Saturday Nights starting tomorrow as well.

Sunday at 7:00 see the Tucson Pops perform at Reid Park for free as always. This week the guest conductor is Jonathan Merrill and you will also see local classical guitar prodigy Ryan Chen.

Happy Friday Everyone.  

Take a little trip to The Town Too Tough to Die, for Wyatt Earp Days in Tombstone, AZ. See daily re-enactments, learn more about the wild west, enjoy food, music, and more. Main Gate Square presents Jazz under the stars tonight from 7:30 - 9:00 PM. Tonight listen to local band Reno del Mar. It's time for the locals to take back the Main Gate Square area until the students return!

Hear from members of Kitt Peak, see the heavens through on-site telescopes and enjoy hearing about how the stars affect our desert wildlife. VisitCoolSummer Nights at the Desert Museum tomorrow.

90'S House Party presents your favorite 90's Hip Hop and Rap stars like Vanilla Ice, Rob Base, Tone Loc and Coolio tomorrow night at AVA Amphitheater. Have fun seeing these 60-year-old rappers continue to perform their hits!

Tucson Zoo President Nancy Kluge will discuss the new animals, exhibits and future plans for this fantastic oasis in our own backyard. If you haven't been to the zoo in a while, visit this Saturday night. Demos, and entertainment are planned.

See one of the few 4-string banjoists in the world, as Rob Wright performs with the Pops orchestra Sunday night starting at 7 pm in Reed Park.

This weekend we remember those brave service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us, allowing us to continue to enjoy our freedoms in the USA. Keep them in your thoughts!
