TBT Tuesday #1

Things I liked

There are so many!!!! But I will try.

- Everything Kadena, pretty much. But mostly I loved that it was the main love storyline of the show and how we got to see the whole process. From their first meeting, the chemistry, their attraction growing, their first kiss, the bumps in the road, and final re-encounter.

- How the Kadena kisses flowed naturally and they weren’t afraid to show them or to include them. I will never forget their first kiss at the airport. It was natural, it made sense within the story but it totally surprised me cause I’m used to one kiss per episode for the wlw couple at the most. So I loved that moment, because it reminded me how committed the show was to their love story.

- All the Sutton small funny moments. Like falling from Jacqueline’s treadmill. They were always subtle moments but so on point and never failed to make me laugh.

- That we had two different kinds of strong women in power. Jacqueline and Lauren styles were different, but just seeing women being bosses, being successful in their fields and being good bosses, lifting other women up, in different ways.

- How all 3 of our main characters had well-rounded storylines and character development. At the end of the season I felt like I’ve gone in a journey with all of them and feel like the way their stories played out made sense.

- The friendship between Jane, Sutton and Kat. Is full of a lot of small amazing moments. In general I love how they support each other. They sometimes fight or mess up but they always fix it and are there for each other. One of my favorite little moments is when Kat is staying with them and after they fight Jane tells her she can storm out to her room cause Kat doesn’t have her own. Even when they are fighting they care about each other.

- Minimum focus on men. Stories were always told from the girl’s point of view and male character where there to support them, move their stories but were never the focus and I love that.    

- I liked that their evolution wasn’t linked to their relationship with men/love life. They all had romantic stories, but the focus was ultimately on their own growth. Even in Kat’s case, the final decision was more about her, about challenging herself, taking a risk that only about Adena.  

I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot more, but this will do for now.

Things I didn’t like

- I didn’t like that after doing the Jane has never had an orgasm storyline in one episode in a positive way they had her have an orgasm 5 minutes later. I would have prefered she just embrace enjoying sex and exploring her sex life without having or not having an orgasm being the focus. And I definitely didn’t like that part of the focus was on Pinstripe magically being able to give her one. - This may be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like the Alex/Sutton romance came a little out of nowhere. Yeah, they had a couple cute moments together, but all of them were framed in a co-workers/friends light. Then out of nowhere (for me) Alex says he likes her, and then they never seem to address that until they hook up. I would have liked for that storyline to be build up a little more.

- Richard being unprofessional regarding his relationship with Sutton. I didn’t mind their relationship I actually enjoyed it most of the time. But every time Richard abused his position to help Sutton, gave her privileged information, or put her in the awkward situation of handling professional stuff with him, it reminded me how that relationship is not the best for Sutton. I also hated how the focus of their relationship being found out was on how it would affect Richard, and it just brought uncomfortable feelings about the power balance and how often men in Richard’s position can abuse it. It didn’t happen with them, but it was still sometimes hard to get past it.  I think the actors have good chemistry but if they want to make this the end game relationship for Sutton, they need to address those things.   - Also part of the Richard and Sutton relationship. The human resources meeting was awful, and Richard shouldn’t have been there. I hated it and wish they had him find out why the meeting was happening (hence finding out about Sutton and Alex) but had him do the decent thing and say they needed to use another lawyer. It would have served the same purpose without the cringeworthy need to actually have him there for it.

- They never had Adena say she had broken up with Coco for good. I know it was implicit in the whole “things aren’t working out” scene and coming back to New York. But it would had been nice if she actually said It and elaborated a little bit on it. In general I would have liked Adena to talk more about her feelings for Kat.
