Do gay right's groups want to have their cake and eat it too?
I came across this article this afternoon, and these two dudes from 'Dunners' (Dunedin,NZ) are getting hitched tomorrow. Last year on August 19th here in The Land of The Long White Cloud a bill was passed allowing same-sex marriage; so, what's the big deal you might ask? Well, these two guys are both straight -- and, they're best mates! I see a tui billboard being 'erected' as we speak. Maybe not.
It seems they only did it to win a competition on a radio station to go to the Rugby World Cup next year in England. Now is it just me, or is that ONE FRIGGIN' AWESOME PRIZE!?! If I wasn't already married with kids I might have tried that one on!
My issue with the gay rights groups getting their nickers in a twist over this is simply, if the bill hadn't passed the radio station wouldn't be holding a competition of this nature. With the prize being tickets to the RWC2015 is it any stretch of the imagination a couple of rugby mad best mates (since they were six years old) would get hitched to acquire such a prize?
A little information on our marriage laws might clear a few things up; on August last year the Marriage Act 1955 had to be amended to clarify that a marriage is between 2 people regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Therefore this left a loop hole for two ingenious mates who just want to see the All Blacks defend and bring back the Webb Ellis Cup. Is that so wrong? Maybe the gay rights honchos need a course in NZ law? The law their community fought so hard to get passed.
It makes me think the majority of the LGBT, LGBTI, LGBTQ, - FFS!!! I can't keep up with this freaky evolving sexuality they have created! A note to all these people: We had a sexual revolution in the 60s. This... this is Sodom and Gomorrah territory; history always repeats itself I guess and we know how it ended for them.
Unless you get Louisa Wall to amend the act so no heterosexual, red-blooded, rugby loving men can rout the system so they can effectively win an all-paid chance at a once in a lifetime event, go ahead. -- It didn't take you guys long last time. Did it?
I'm going leave you with a well known line, "Well, it's within the rules." Think about that next time before you throw a tantrum. If you gay rights groups are going to throw your toys out of your cot every time you get "horrified" my advice to you is either, learn how to laugh at two straight guys getting hitched, or just harden the f*** up! Not everyone will be as tolerant or sympathetic to your plight when you are bitching about how you are constantly getting the short end of the stick.
Congrats to Travis and Matt. I hope you enjoy the RWC2015 and continue your awesome friendship.
