How to spend an hour (or three) on a little street in Shoreditch
It's Autumn. It's getting chilly. The air has that electricity about it that you either embrace or get static shocks from whenever you try to open a door/hug your friends/brush your hair. The year is winding down and the flip flops are being packed away (sob!). If you find yourself with a little time to spare on your lunch break, at the weekend, or on a day off, we cannot recommend Rivington Street and it's neighbouring area enough for a calming stroll.
Head down here from Old Street/Great Eastern Street. Stop off at Mark Hix's newest food fare, The Tramshed to oggle and the moo cow Damien Hirst has eternalised for all to see, diners and passers by alike. Maybe make a reservation there for dinner if you're feeling like a carnivores treat. Standing chicken anyone?
Amble a few metres down and you'll find us, The TUK Store on the left. Sit on our orange bench and soak up the winter rays (if there are any...). Come in and see what we have, and ask us about what we do. Lose yourself in the variety of bright and beautiful pieces we have from numerous talented designers, up and coming as well as established. Clomp around in KiBoots, or try on a Gene Style piece for the up and coming party season (Christmas is coming people, we may as well embrace it). Should you fancy buying something, remember that we are a not-for-profit organisation, and every penny goes towards providing complementary therapies to those who need it most.
Once you've left us, you could pop into the Bricklayers Arms for a cheeky pint. Or if it's caffeine that you need, Fix directly ahead on Curtain Road has the best coffee this side of Italia. Their window seats would be voted best people watching spot in London if such an award existed (which personally I think it should!).
If you're looking for a cocktail before or after your Tramshed Date, head down to Callooh Callay at the end of Rivington Street for a Narnia-esque experience. You will not regret it.
Enjoy, there is so much to see!
