Invitation to Participate in Understanding Empathy in the Profession

(In which I beg you to take our survey about empathy work within libraries and museums.)

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to participate in a research study we are conducting to explore the dynamic use of empathy in the professional contexts of American museums and libraries.

Participating in this research means completing a short (15 minutes) online survey about your perceptions of empathy in the profession. Participants in this study, American museum professionals and librarians, are invited to complete a short online survey containing 9 questions: 5 multiple-choice questions concerning “empathy,” and 4 multiple-choice demographic questions. The conclusion of the survey will contain an optional appointment scheduling for an online or in-person follow-up interview with the researchers.

Six people have overdosed at Denver's Central Library since late February; staff trained for Narcan

Staff at Denver’s Central Library is receiving training on how to administer Narcan after six people overdosed at the library since Feb. 28.

Just this morning I found two articles about librarians being trained to deal with heroin overdoses.

Just FYI, there are still school libraries that have a secret shelf behind the circ desk for all the "sensitive" or "risqué" books. I have opinions.
