I don't understand why Suki gets so much hate! I loved her as a character.

SAME.

Honestly, I think most of it is that she's Sokka's love interest. A lot of shippers who think he should be with someone else hate on instinct. Someone gets in the way of your ship... well, it can be hard for people not to automatically get on the defense.

I really don't see any other reason to dislike her. She's funny, pretty, smart, tough, and just an all around great character. She saves the lives of like half the Gaang. The scene of her sacrificing herself for Appa is really powerful.... and the scene where she decides to stay at the Boiling Rock with Sokka and Zuko... and the scene where she saves Toph and Sokka... and... and... and...
