Flashback to a fantastic totally handmade job at Hothouse IWG in London many moons ago. I was tasked with sculpting the face and neck of Turbo the Snail for this racing snail vehicle! Turbo was a character from the Dreamworks animated feature and this 1200cc BMW engined 3 wheeled vehicle was created to publicise the movie. Carved from polystyrene, coated in plaster then moulded and cast and fitted to a bespoke chassis. Heres a shot of Turbo the racing Snail movie promotion vehicle in London. I worked on this proect at Hothouse IWG, one of four sculptore working on the first phase of the job. This was sculpted totally by hand the old school way, none of this new fangled milling nonsense. I sculpted the head, neck, eyes and refined some of the shell details.
