[ Turbulent-weather ]

I love her. It hasn’t been an easy ride, but… maybe I should’ve expected that. I know we’re moving in the right direction. -smiles- I don’t really have doubts about that anymore. Now is just a matter of surviving the war.

You don't worry about that. You should worry about plenty of other things though. Really, this old cottage.

I think I have better plans at the moment. Plenty of things to go mess with, sabotage. Have some fun for a while. Been a while since I tried for power.

A new encounter

The young asari walked around a bit confused at where she was but she felt like she was well a little safe. As she continued walking she noticed another asari she unknowingly stared at her as she took in the view a bit she then shook her head realizing that she was staring she had hoped the other asari didnt notice.

“First Time for Everything”

She had never ridden a horse before. Growing up in a city, Kasumi had never seen a horse outside of the vids either. She never really expected her first time seeing one to be at her girlfriend’s sanctuary.

Horses were weird animals, but then again, they weren’t all that different than other barn animals in Kasumi’s eyes.  They were more interested in seeing if they could eat your shirt than being affectionate, and were a little too skittish for anyone to be that comfortable around them.

(It doesn’t help that her first experience with a horse was being kicked in the face by a horse’s back hooves.  She still couldn’t remember much about what happened afterward, or why she was even at the stables.)

She had never ridden a horse before, and once Rona heard that, she insisted on taking her on her first ride. She had said yes, mostly because despite her weirdness with barn animals, everyone had aspirations to ride a horse as a kid. At least the human ones anyway.

No matter what you might be thinking, Kasumi wasn’t afraid of horses. Not a single bit.  It was just phantom pains from the concussion. Completely. Still she may have dragged her heels a little once they arrived at the stables, and she may have began a staring contest with the horse, rather than getting on it like Rona asked. It approached her in small steps, and Kasumi stiffened a little as it sniffed her, nibbled a little on her pea coat, just to see how it tasted.

That was when Rona rounded the corner of the stable, watching her with a bit of laughter in her voice. “He’s not going to bite you,” Rona teased before grabbing onto her hand. “Or maybe you’re having trouble getting on.”

“You’re riding with me, right?” she asked, her eyes never leaving the horse. Most of them were harmless, she reminded herself. It was just bad timing when she was kicked in the face.

“Of course.” Rona let go for a just a moment, slipping into the saddle with ease. The horse mad a small snort, tail flicking. They both seemed about ready to go.  With a smile, she offered her hand to Kasumi. She only hesitated for a moment before grabbing on and seating herself on the horse with as much grace as her career allowed for (which wasn’t as much as you’d think getting on a horse. She was used to vaulting, not sitting on the fence).  Almost right away, she wrapped her arms around the asari’s abdomen, giving a small nod once Rona glanced over her shoulder.

With the slightest nudge, the horse began to trot out of the stables in a leisurely pace. It seemed effortless, despite the weight of both of them on the horse’s back. Her body moved with the horse’s muscles, bouncing slightly as it walked. Rona barely stirred from the saddle. It was something to get used to she guessed.

They let a comfortable silence settle between them, a sort of quiet that made it easy for Kasumi to relax, though only as much as riding a horse could allow. She could feel the slow movement of Rona’s breathing from her back, a brief brush of skin as her fingers slipped a little underneath the asari’s coat. She could feel the slightest adjustment of shoulder muscle as Rona tugged on the reins just a tad, turning the horse further into sanctuary.

“It’s not too bad, is it?” She could hear the smile in Rona’s voice.

“Relaxing,” Kasumi replied.

“I’m not sure why you had trouble in the first place. The horse didn’t mean to kick you.”

“So he just does that for fun? I don’t even remember what you were calling me for.”

“I didn’t think you’d follow me into the stables.”

“I always do!” Kasumi laughed though. It was less like they were on a horse and more in the living room just talking. Maybe it wasn’t so bad.

“To think, this is the same big bad thief going on heists every night.” Rona teased, looking back at her with a lopsided smile. It was good to see her so relaxed to, Kasumi decided. It wasn’t always easy to be like this.

“I’m like a different person then,” Kasumi remarked in return, hugging her just a little tighter.

“You’ll have to show me.”

She nearly fell off the horse. “What?” She choked for a moment. “Take you on a heist?”  Rona nodded in return. She wasn’t so sure about that. Plenty of things could go wrong. Then again, when was the last time she had a date come with her? “Well, alright. So long as you listen to what I say.”

“Sounds good.” Then there was a pause. “You up for running?” Huh? Rona didn’t give her much time to reply before making a ‘click’ noise, and the horse picked up his pace, bounding down the hill at such a speed that Kasumi attached herself onto Rona’s back, terrified.

Definitely not harmless barn animals, horses.
