Occupation: Aggressive Underspace guards of the week

First Appearance: "Dragon's Teeth” (VOY, 1999)

Summary: Among the oldest species in the Delta Quadrant, the Turei have been a spacefaring civilization for nearly a thousand years. They are the keepers of "Underspace", a series of interconnected subspace tunnels that allow a warp-capable starship to move at unbelievable speeds throughout most of the quadrant. They are deeply protective of Underspace, and zealously guard it to prevent its use and abuse. They will even go so far as to board another starship in order to clear all information about Underspace from their logs, should they stumble across it by accident. It's been speculated that they may have an alliance of some sort with the Voth, owing to the remarkably similar design structures of their vessels, but this is little more than speculation.
