Türkçe Meydan Okumamın Son Günü
(Please excuse the title. I still don’t speak Turkish too well.)
Well, my second month of language challenges is over and it’s been great! Not only did I finish 14 skills on my Duolingo tree, maintain a 30 day streak, and advance almost 2 levels, but I really learned a lot about Turkish culture and actually started trying out my Turkish a bit. Apart from Duolingo, I read some of Snow by Orhan Pamuk which is an amazing book but is taking me forever to read, and I also watched 5 episodes of Muhteşem Yüzyıl. 5 episodes might not sound like much, but when you realize that each episode is the length of a movie, then it starts adding up. I’m probably not going to be able to add anything very useful here in Turkish like I was able to in Welsh, but I can at least say some things, like yasak! (I learned that from Muhteşem Yüzyıl. Everything was forbidden in the Middle Ages.) Hopefully Barça will post some more videos of Arda speaking in Turkish so I can practice :)
Merhaba! Türkçe biraz biliyorum. Türkçe güzel dil. Türkiye’ye gitmek istiyorum. Kar okuyorum, ama üzgünüm çünkü Necip ölüyor. Muhteşem Yüzyıl görüyorum. İbrahim beğeniyorum. İbrahim İtalyan ama da Türk. Muhteşem Yüzyıl seviyorum.
Well, there’s the best I could do. Now it’s time to move onto fun new challenges, like becoming more involved in the local Catalan community, starting to actually use the Welsh I know, my quest to better understand Turkish culture, and moving on to new languages! Here’s to learning many more in the months to come.
