TURN fandom!

I knew I’d finally get around to this, I’ve been meaning to for days now. Guys, if you’re like me, you’ve been seeing a lot of nostalgia about the old days. The Tumblr memories thing really got me going, personally. Also, we’re getting some new fans who are wondering if we’re living or dead. 🤔

So let’s show them some love. Yeah? Let’s revive some of the old fun. A few days ago, I saw a list of fandom projects by @theresnosafeharbor4myships. Simcoe fans

We have three episodes left, and at the end of last week’s show, the scenes for tonight showed a gunfight between Simcoe and Abe.  Now we know how that shit’s probably gonna go, because we’ve watched TV before, lol.  The so-called bad guy who got away from the clowns chasing him for four years is going to have to pay, according to TV and movie rules.  We knew it, we expected it. And if it doesn’t happen tonight, it will at some point during the next two eps.

(I said bad guy, but we all know there are very few characters in TURN who can claim any kind of moral superiority to Simcoe).

Alex Rose said that Simcoe will have a redemption arc and will learn that mercy isn’t a weakness.  And of course, he’ll eventually go on to Canada, to become Grand Sultan and Royal Emperor there, probably with his own harem, and have parades in his honor, a national holiday in his name, and half the place will be named after him.  So we know he won’t die.  Also, Rose said that they wanted to prepare him for the awesome and amazing (my words) statesman he will become.

But he will probably go through some shit because conventional TV wisdom says he must.  But he’ll be looking hot as hell when he does, we know that, lol. And he’s still magic, just the way he’s always been...he’s gonna come through.

TURN fans considering moving to Twitter—-FYI

If you think the fandom is small here, it’s almost non-existent there. I’m just saying. Basically there’s two accounts and they’re almost inactive.

They always seemed kind of insular / clique-ish to me, and actually being on Twitter confirmed that impression. Also, you better not criticize AMC because they don’t want to hear it. I mentioned AMC’s neglect of TURN, and the person who owns the account was like, “That’s not true at all!! AMC was good enough to give us a 4th season! And they aired lengthy marathons!”

Yeah, well I never saw any of those marathons, did anyone else? I saw 2 or 3 episodes at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, as if TURN was the TV equivalent of the crazy uncle shut away in the attic. As for the 4th season, it wasn’t a charity gift for the fans. That’s not how it works. AMC profited from S4 or it wouldn’t have happened. Anyway, I’m one of many still over here waiting for the S4 DVD, so I’m not gonna be an AMC cheerleader, know what I’m saying?

Anyway, just a heads-up if you expect any amount of TURN fandom activity on Twitter. Personally I’m just there for political trolling.

Somebody is telling me that ANC did “lengthy marathons” of TURN. Huh? Did I miss them? I only remember a couple of episodes buried at 4 in the morning.

Did anyone else see these lengthy marathons?

TURN: Washington's Spies renewed for Season 3!

Providential news, TURN fans: “TURN: Washington’s Spies” has officially been renewed for a third 10-episode season, airing in Spring 2016!

View On WordPress TL;DR: So why did TURN get renewed? While TURN's Season 2 *live* ratings were unbelievably abysmal, they more than doubled when taking a week's worth of DVR viewings into account. Oh, and apparently TURN's tiny audience is incredibly wealthy compared to the average cable TV show -- wealthy enough to override AMC's concerns about low live viewership (though not by much, if it took them five weeks to decide to pull the trigger). Welcome to the brave new world of television ratings!
