sorry this took so long to upload, I forgot that courtroom wifi is terrible. video below the cut, tl;dr day one over but idk if we're out of the woods yet.
[A video is attached, still from the perspective of presumably-Maya in the courtroom gallery.
"Look," Larry Butz is saying, "I'm not saying that kid did it—"
"Mr. Butz." The camera shifts to Edgeworth, who looks incredibly tired. "Mr. Butz, did you—and I would like to politely request that you answer this with a simple 'yes' or 'no' as court has already lasted for quite some time—did you, or did you not, see what occurred at the food stand in front of Fey & Wright Law Offices?"
"It's Deauxnim, man! C'mon, Edgey!"
Somehow, Edgeworth manages to look more tired. The Furfrou seated beside him barks in Larry's direction.
"Mr. Deauxnim, then. Please answer the question. Concisely, if you will."
"Nah," Larry says at last. "With how cases go with you and Nicky, I probably saw something and won't realize it until the case is closed, but I only saw Mr. Grossberg for a little bit."
Edgeworth sighs, very deeply. "Thank you, Mr. Deauxnim, for your time. Unless the defense has an objection?"
The camera shifts to the defense, who are hastily whispering among themselves and don't look much happier than Edgeworth.
"No, Mr. Edgeworth," Phoenix calls out, "we don't. The defense would, however, like to assert that the prosecution does not, in fact, have decisive evidence or a decisive witness connecting our client, Mr. Taranz, to the crime."
"You are correct in that we do not have decisive evidence," Edgeworth says.
"If you have another witness," Mia says, "it is the defense's right to cross-examine their testimony as well—"
There's a loud noise, like a door slamming open. The camera switches targets again, pointing at the courtroom doors, which have just been thrown open by a nervous-looking young man in a police uniform.
"OBJECTION!" The policeman clears his throat. "Sorry, sorry, a-always wanted to say that—"
"...Mr. Meekins," Edgeworth says, a little dangerously, "is there a particular reason for your objection?"
Meekins nods vigorously. "Yes, sir! The victim's awake!"
To say that this gets a reaction from the gallery is an understatement. Maya, in particular, can be heard whispering, "Wait, what?"
"Order! Order!" The judge bangs his gavel. "It seems, then, that neither the defense nor the prosecution has a particularly solid case at the moment—"
"Really?" Maya hisses under her breath. "Really?"
"—and, as such, the trial of Gen Taranz will continue tomorrow, after a more thorough investigation. This court is adjourned!"
The judge punctuates his final statement with his gavel, and the video ends.]
