Raising the glass to his lips, Evan only took a brief sip from it, observing someone from over his glass. Truth be told, he’d been observing them for a while, only waiting for the opportune moment to make his move. And when it finally came, it was with a smirk that the man moved through the crowds and stood in front of them. “What a delightful surprise to see you here.”
As both Muggles and Wizards alike prepare to jump into the year 2018, the war seemed... relatively less prominent. It appeared like things had calmed in the Wizarding World, despite the menace still lurking around. In hopes to soothe everyone’s spirit and begin the New Year on the right feet, the Ministry decided to host a majestic ball. Invitations were sent to wizards all around England, no matter their blood status, or rumoured allegiance.
Everyone was expected to be at the Ministry Hall for 7 pm, and in their best clothes. For the occasion, the place had been charmed, making it look like snow was falling through the crowd of guests, and stars shining brightly on the ceiling. To most Hogwarts alumni, it reminded them of their time in the Great Hall, giving them a small nostalgia before jumping the year.
WHAT? A ball, organized by the Ministry to celebrate the New Year.
WHEN? In character, the ball begins at 7pm on December 31, 2017, and ends in the early hours of the morning on the 1st of January, 2018. Out of character, it will last from December 31, 2017, and will last 5 days, so until January 4, 2018.
WHO? Everyone!
HOW? It will be a dash event, so please use the tag turnedevent1 to post your starters, as well as with the starter tag! As usual, please do not post anything in the turnedevent tag, as we wish to keep it clean and easy to navigate. You may post your characters outfits using the tag turnedoutfits.
“How about we toast to the new year?” Andy said, holding up a glass. “Let’s make 2018 the best year we’ve had yet!” She said. Everything seemed to be looking up for once and Andy was hoping 2018 would bring peace in the wizarding world and things would get better. Though that was probably just her hopeful thinking.
Peter had initially been upset when he saw the Lia had gone to the ball with Amycus freaking Carrow. He had whined about it to his friends but their solutions were to go find someone else he thought was cute and to dance with her. Somehow that seemed impossible to Peter. He was bad at this whole talking to people thing and he didn’t want to like anyone else. He wasn’t paying attention as he made his way to the table with food and accidentally bumped into Lia. “Oh um I’m sorry.” He said.
“ DON’T give me that look, just because I had a couple shots, doesn’t mean I can’t handle a couple sparklers, it’s New Year’s Eve for Merlin’s sake, LIVE a little, take a round of shots yourself,” the brunette slurred as she reached for a set of sparklers, wand wiggling round in the air as she tried to concentrate on a fire making spell.
When she first agreed to go to that ball with Amycus, Cordelia was convinced it’d be a pain - and certainly the worst way to end a year and start a new one. She was diving into backwards, not even sure she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. But as the night went on, she realized it wasn’t as bad as she expected. Of course, she would’ve had a lot more fun on her own, but he proved to have convincing arguments. “Alright, I’ll admit, I didn’t expect to appreciate this thing with you this much. But it really isn’t that bad.”
