They Fight, He Falls = Amycus x Peter Drabble
Fight: For a drabble about my character fighting with/against yours.
Darkness always comes much too fast for the eye to see, Peter thought.
Never in his wildest dreams did he even think that he would ever point his wand against one of the Carrows, the siblings who gave him the creeps and the shivers. The female Carrow lay - dead? unconscious? - ten feet away from them, her body crumpled into a helpless looking heap of limbs and blood. She had fallen while fighting another student. And now, her brother, the fiercely overprotective older brother who raged with anger and vengence, stood in front of him with eyes thirsting for blood.
All Peter really wanted to do was to get the hell out of there, find James, Sirius, Remus, and Lily, and bail.
He heard a small whimper behind him, and suddenly he realized who it was that had been fighting Alecto Carrow.
It was Remus who Amycus was aiming his wand at, and the only thing that stood between him and his best friend was Peter.
He could see it in Amycus's blazing eyes, that he would most definitely kill Remus at the first chance he got. And as twisted as it was, Peter admired him for his loyalty, his bravery to not be afraid of putting himself in harm's way in order to protect his beloved sister. Then Peter realized that he was in the same situation as the other boy, and then he remembered what the Sorting Hat told him seven years ago about his potential to be brave.
Perhaps, this was the chance he'd been waiting for all this time?
"Move aside, Pettigrew." A dark voice growled out.
He didn't trust his voice to not squeak or crack, so he just shook his head.
"This is futile, you know it. Between you and me, there is no comparison in skill or competence, so I say again, move. Aside."
Peter only gripped his wand tighter and faked a laugh. So this was it, was it not? His time of trial, his choice between fear and courage, betrayal and loyalty.
"Well, your sister was a bitch anyway, Carrow. I'd say Remus has done this world a favor."
