the feeling of pain reminds him he is alive  .  that dull ache that tugs upon every fiber of his muscles keeps him grounded and the distant voice  .  .  .  her voice  ,  it pulls him back to reality  .  the flutter of eyes brings her into focus  .  concern evident upon her features but even more so within her words  . 

he holds onto that    ;    allows himself the smallest of of smirks to tug upon dried lips  .  ❝     ---------    but i didn’t  .     ❞  whether the force simply rejected him or he was bound here by her alone he could not tell  .  all he knew was that if he had died  .  .  .  it would have been worth it  .

there are many things bb-8 has learned to better handle since they first became a part of the resistance. if the sudden shriek they emit as they go flying is any indication, explosions are not one of those things.

they take a moment to reconnect their head to their body before their optic starts scanning the now decimated area for their friend.

‘ Your return is rather uncharacteristic of you  ’   he holds no malice in his words, the anger that had once been palatable had dissipated into nothing the more that he had pondered over both of their actions. She had chosen - just as he had, and regardless of their intentions, their paths had devolved from each other. A shame when he thinks about what they could have became.
