Carefully guarding the truth; that’s the phrase that had been thrown around so callously mere hours before, when Emma was first made aware of the situation. It’s for her protection, everyone insisted. Eventually, Emma agreed – because she knew, just as well as the rest of the townspeople, that if word reached Regina, she would insist on getting involved.
“Regina, I need you to understand that I didn’t say anything sooner because we don’t have all of the information yet. It’s come to our understanding that there was…Someone…Waiting around outside of your house. They ran, once they caught sight of us, and we didn’t get a good look at them so we have no means of identifying them yet – but I promise, we have this under control.”
The blonde might claim to be the best human lie detector but if there was one thing she failed at, it was lying to her. Emma should have known by now that sooner or later--come hell or high water--Regina would find out what was really going on. She always found out the truth, but that one she wasn’t expecting to hear.
It was the most peaceful time they’ve had in a while now, everything seemed to be going so well for everyone, and now, apparently, there was another danger just around the corner. Perhaps she shouldn’t be too surprised, though. She’d made far too many enemies during her evil reign. Regina might have been a different person now, but some of her enemies surely remained, waiting for the right moment to strike.
“Excuse me? Someone was stalking around my house, got away with it with no means for you to identify them, and you call this under control? Don't you think I had the right to know about it sooner? I could have stopped them, Emma!”
