X is for eXtra. I’m enjoying food with five friends, and I end up making way too much, just to make sure there’s enough for everybody. I end up giving away the knishes and the walnut breads. But there are the key lime and turtle pies no one touched because the pecan pie was a bigger hit—I know the real reason, though: people have a weird aversion to sweet things like buttercream, Italian meringue, and salted caramel paired with chocolate. Eh. I love key lime pie, and caramel and chocolate turtles make me hot so— 😉
